The 4th of July festivities this year made me feel really good about our little Town of Truckee. I got to cook sausages for 4 hours at the Pancake Breakfast at the fire station. We estimated about 1600 people got to enjoy a free breakfast this year, as part of the fire fighters giving back to the community. I got to cook with people I had not seen in years, but have known since I was a kid. Continue Reading
A Silver Lining?
It's getting harder and harder to watch the news, don't you think? The talking heads have got to have a drum to beat on, and they hit it hard and often. Remember OJ, Lacy Peterson, Iraq? The media killed us with that stuff, until it was time to move on to the crisis du-jour. Today's crisis is hitting us all where it hurts though. Our 401K's are now 201K's. (I didn't make that up, so kudos Continue Reading
Take Door Number ???
Real estate is a funny endeavor. There's a real collective subconscious to it. Many times, I have seen a property which festered on the market for many months receive multiple offers the same day. No rhyme or reason, it just happens that way. The phenomena is similar in regard to overall market activity. The whole thing just kind-of churns along , and then BAM! It's like someone turns on a Continue Reading
There Ought to be a Law
After 5 years as Broker/Owner of Pine Ridge Properties, I'm closing the doors. I've been given a great opportunity to go work with some long-time friends at Pacific Crest Properties, here in Truckee. We get to share some things, and help each other get to the "other side". I don't think it's a surprise that the last 3 years have been a real challenge for most of us in the real estate field, so Continue Reading
Dust For Breakfast
My daughter "Kaite" and I have started mountain biking together of late. It's not our first time, but we've gotten a bit more serious, and are trying to ride regularly. She's training for high school sports as she'll be a freshman at Truckee High this year, and I'm riding because I still eat like I play high school football. So this morning she throws down that she's tired of, "eating dust Continue Reading
Don’t Jump…
It’s hard to turn anywhere or to any media outlet without seeing or hearing bad news about the economy. Yesterday T. Boone Pickens (he’s a go-bo zillionaire) testified before Congress that if drastic steps were not taken soon, oil would reach $300 a barrel within 10 years. Today, CNBC reported that we may only be half way through this housing slump. Fannie May and Freddie Mac will likely need a Continue Reading
Where there’s smoke…
In a previous post, I talked about how blessed I was to be writing about the pristine Tahoe summer time weather. I'm still awfully blessed, but that post also talked about the chance of thunder showers. Those thunder clouds sparked the lightning caused fires that have plagued California since. The Yuba-Complex fires as I believe they're being called are just to the west of the Pacific Crest Continue Reading
Amazing Summer Days.
It seems like I'm the last guy in real estate to get a blog. Well, drop a few hundred bucks with your web design people, and...bingo, my favorite chubby realtor has a blog. Not so sure about how to act, what to say, or if anyone even cares. But dog-gone-it if I'm not back on the cutting edge. Now...what critical piece of information could I impart on my first post? After all, the first one's Continue Reading
